1986 DA is a 3 km M-type metallic asteroid. Over 90% of its mass is iron-nickel alloy with trace platinum-group elements. It will approach Earth to within 1.17 AU in 2038.

On-site, the job is dig, crush, and bag — nothing more. No sorting, no smelting. Raw ore is shipped whole to L5, where abundant mirror-concentrated sunlight melts it down.
